The 4 Keys to Writing Persuasive Copy Without... →
write like you would talk This is a good one, alot of the ideas in here seem so easy and natural on the surface but actually pretty tricky to apply on a consistent basis. More than likely it has to do with the fact that we don’t realize how casually we speak, and when we try to write it forces to figure out why everything comes out wrong.

This is a nice read. When you think about it most of the stuff we interact with on a daily basis was designed for everyone to use. Why should a website be any different?

Whitney Hess: Design Principles — The Philosophy... →
….we should be establishing a philosophy about how to treat people, in the same way that visual design is about establishing a philosophy about how make an impact. Great post, a design’s value should be in direct correlation to the experience it provides. No easy task for sure, but it needs to be on your radar as a designer of anything to any degree. * the post also gets bonus...

THE PSYCHOLOGIST’S VIEW OF UX DESIGN →
Tripped on this over the weekend, looks like it’s from about a year ago but full of great info. I thought it was interesting to get a psychologist’s point of view on UX, lots of relevant points here.

The rise of Android, another killer ingredient... →
Good read, I like the comparison of Intel & Android. I always thought Intel pulled off a once-in-a-generation branding job with how well they positioned themselves top of mind with their customers (which in their formative years was basically the entire modern computing world). The author put it a great way, they “trained” consumers to look for their brand, and it more than...

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
lookingforawesome: Hmmm… “…a film that was fully financed through product placement from various brands, all of which are integrated transparently into the film. While using brands in film promotion is not new for Hollywood, it certainly is new territory for the documentary format. Spurlock exploits the phenomenon to new heights, with everything from branded pizza boxes and in-flight film...

How Advertising is Changing Social Media →
Will social media just end up being called “media” in the future? Will we talk about the number of likes and followers brands have in the same way we look at TV viewers and newspaper readers 10 years ago? Very interesting stuff. I think social media will be the bridge between old-school agencies and newer more digitally-prone ones and if either lean too far in their own direction they’re...

Pattern Tap: Organized Web-Design Inspiration →
markwynerdesign: There are countless galleries and showcases around the web. But there’s one that stands out via their unique setup: Pattern Tap. What I believe makes Pattern Tap different is how these collections are organized by the type rather than style. Their tagging system offers style a filtering option, but the emphasis is placed upon type: 404, icons, tables, etc. They even offer “good...

Most of these indicators are actually on the screen for just seconds, but that is sufficient time to quiet a user’s doubts and ensure they know things are working.
